"Successful people are willing to do things that unsuccessful people are not willing to do."

September 16th 2007

As we look forward to our Monday night meeting with the Washington Redskins. I focus on their defense, which seems to be much improved since last year. They have added a solid athletic safety in Laron Landry and a veteran presence in the middle with London Fletcher.  Their corners remain very consistent from last year with Carlos Rogers and Shawn Springs, however they have added a guy from their past Fred Smoot who adds depth to an already athletic and aggressive secondary. Cornelius Griffin in the middle and Andre Carter coming off the edge anchors their defensive line.

As a team this week we need to start fast through the run game. Our running game is one thing that has remained fairly constant through the last 5 games of last year and against the
Packers. As Donovan continues to ease himself into a position where he is completely comfortable with his knee and brace the running backs and offensive line should carry us.  What needs the most improvement from last week is our passing game. Whether it’s the receivers or backs not catching the ball (I dropped two great passes) or Donovan delivering it to us in a position where we can catch and make a play with running after the catch.  Coach Morninwieg has put together a great offensive game plan that includes a good mix of runs and passes that should put us in a good position for success.

Defensively if our guys come out with equal or more intensity as
they did last week; they should be in a good position. They are up
against two very good running backs that are more than willing to pound the ball for 40 plus carries a game between the two of them. Our defensive tackles need to have a great game in order for us to have the success that we are looking for. Santana Moss who brings plenty of speed and play making ability leads their receiving core. Antwan Randle El had a good game last week and will be a force that needs to be contained. However, our defense matches up very good against these guys and should
have a good game.

Special Teams is the area that may need the most improvement from last week. With the addition of Reno Mahe our punt return situation should be considerably better. The coverage teams did a nice job of containing last week and David Akers had another solid performance. Thanks for joining me in the Westbrook Lounge. See you back here next week!

No one thought we could do it, no one believed; no one had any faith... Except for you!!! The faithful EAGLES FAN!! THANK YOU for sticking with us and being a pillar of support!

This season hasn’t been easy, it’s been an up and down struggle. We looked good one week and bad the next. Through the interceptions, fumbles and dropped passes you were still there rooting and cheering us on.  The win against the Cowboys was the best gift I could have received for Christmas. Now things have turned around and we are gonna make it to the playoffs!!  What a great feeling and a huge accomplishment for us.

But don't get too excited or celebrate too soon our work is not yet done. We have the task of playing against a talented and dangerous Michael Vick and Atlanta Falcons team that has seemed to underachieve all season. However, we have to remain focused on our goals and try to achieve them one at a time.

1. NFC East Champs
2. Divisional Champs
3. Superbowl Champs

There are many reasons for our recent success but the few that stand out and have made a major difference in us doing well are:

1. Improved defensive play
2. Dominance of the line of scrimmage on offense/defense
3. Sustaining drives on offense
4. Getting off the field on 3rd down on defense

The proof is in us winning, it’s not about individual accolades or self-fulfillment. It’s about being a team, a strong unit and a force to be reckoned with. As a team we are a united front and we must remain consistent with our playing in the weeks to come to be successful. However, as we enjoy the fruits of our labor and hard work we will continue to take it one game and win at a time. As I take the field on Sunday afternoon hyped and ready to play, I look forward to hearing you say… E-A-G-L-E-S…EAGLES!

I hope that you keep supporting us throughout our playoff run. As always, thank you for joining me in the Westbrook Lounge. Have a Happy and Safe New Year!

Many Blessings,

Brian

What a Great Game…I am so proud of my team! Sometimes words can’t explain how you feel, but this team has fought and clawed its way into controlling our own destiny.
I have preached to people all over not to give up on us and now on
Christmas night we will be playing for the division title and it feels incredible!

In the game against the Giants there were a lot of ups and downs, good plays and bad ones and plenty of penalties. However, through all of that we continued to fight every quarter and in the end all of the hard work paid off for us.

From the beginning we were able to move the ball through the pass and the
run, which is great for a team that struggles sometimes with having an effective
running game. Correll and I were able to run the ball effectively and it definitely made the difference in the game. Jeff Garcia orchestrated another good game with only one error with the pick and the penalty that could have potentially hurt us. The offensive line played another solid game by moving the Giants defenders off the ball on almost every play.

Defensively Jim Johnson came up with a game plan to try to contain the Giants
plays makers and for the most part it worked. Tiki Barber was shut down and did not get as many yards as he usually does. Plaxico Buress caught a couple of balls, but he was still unable to hurt us as expected by some commentators. All in all, this was a very crucial game and a huge win for a team that had their backs up against the wall.

On Christmas night we won’t be waiting for Santa but for the Dallas Cowboys to take the field. This will be a big test for this team. It’s always tough going into hostile territory and coming out with a win, especially when it’s the Cowboys. We need to win these last two games to get in the playoffs. Everyone knows what Dallas brings to the table so I don’t have to review them, just know that we need this win. As a player, this is all I can ask for, to control our own destiny. This is what football and playing the game is all about!  We’re gonna do everything in our power to make sure we bring home the biggest and best Christmas gift… A WIN!!  Thanks again for hanging in there with me and joining me in the Westbrook lounge.

Happy Holidays,

Brian

Just what the doctor ordered…A Win! This past game against the Carolina Panthers was exactly what we needed. The Panthers were a very physical team with strong, athletic players and good coaching. As an offense, we started out very slow and punted on a lot of early possessions. In the first half, we had problems with getting positive yards on first down plays.  Fortunately for us, we were still able to put some points on the board during those periods. However, we came back out in the second half with a whole new attitude and mindset. As a result, we moved the ball well and continued to put points on the board and make big plays. In the end, we got a much needed win that put us back in the race.

This week we are on the road and face the Washington Redskins. This team has a lot of talent, but has been underachieving lately. When we played them in week 10 we moved the ball well and beat them by 24 points, this was a great win for us coming off of our bye-week. However, the goal for us this weekend is to go into their house and steal a win in a very competitive NFC EAST. As a team, we can not let the Redskins spoil our quest to make it into the playoffs. We're fighters and we're going to continue to fight until the end!  As always, thanks for your support and joining me again in the Westbrook Lounge.

November 30th 2006

This game was exhausting and very disappointing; we did not play up to our potential at all. Our football team needs to decide what direction we want to go. We can continue to play sloppy football and lose, or we can put our foot down and figure out
the problem and find a way to solve it. At this point, we have played 11 games, many of which were terrible performances from the entire Eagles team.

However, through all of the bad football we have played this season, there are some positive things that we need to continue to do and enhance. As an offense, against the Indianapolis Colts, we were somewhat efficient with moving the ball. We were able to run and throw the ball well. However, the area that we need to improve on is having the capability to score on every possession when we are playing against very good teams. At the very least, we have to be able to match their scoring. We can not go multiple drives without scoring or making a field goal and putting some points on the board.

This week we are playing the Carolina Panthers. This is an impressive team with a very talented defense. The Panthers are coming off of a tough loss to the Washington Redskins because their offense turned the ball over several times and put them in a hole. Their defense has dominated games and this will be another test for us to continue to build on the efficiency that we had this past week. We are all disappointed in how this season has played out. However, as a team, we are going to stay upbeat, positive and focused and try to get this ship moving in the right direction this week. As always, I appreciate your support!

Thanks for chillin with me in my lounge,

November 22nd 2006

Many times you will hear commentators use the quote "Must Win Game" and truly this week for us against the Colts it is a "Must Win Game". As a team we have made it very hard on ourselves, however we believe there is still hope. Right now the NFC is very crowded with a lot of teams that have similar records.

The most important thing for us to do right now is to be focused and only worry about what we are trying to accomplish this Sunday. We can not be concerned with what other teams are doing. We know that we have to win every game that we have left on the schedule.

Looking at the Colts, they have an all pro offense with a great quarterback and a pair of great receivers who make big plays in every game. They combine that with a good receiving tight end and two running backs that catch the ball out of the backfield well and have the agility to grind out yards. Our defense will definitely have their hands full this week.
On defense they have a very small but quick team. Their defensive line does a good job getting speed rushes up the field and putting pressure on the quarterback. The Colts linebackers are very active and run very well. In the secondary they play a lot of zone and force teams to grind it out with shorter passes. As an offense we should be able to move the ball on the ground, which will match up our big offensive line against their smaller speedy defensive line.

It's going to be a great match-up this week.
With the Colts suffeing their first loss this season to the Cowboys last week, they're coming out ready to play, but so are we. There is still hope for us as long as we have the right attitude and believe that we can and will win every game that we play.

Thanks for stopping by & chilling with me in my lounge.

November 6th 2006

As you all know, this is going to be a very big week for us. After a much needed break of resting and refreshing our bodies and minds during the bye-week we are finally back and ready to move forward with the second half of the season. This week we are going to face a very talented Washington Redskins team.  With their very emotional victory against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday they are hyped and ready to go.

The Redskins have an incredibly big and strong defensive line. Their linebacking core is anchored by Pro Bowler Marcus Washington, who is always ready to wreak havoc on opposing offenses. In the secondary, the Redskins have Shawn Springs and Carlos Rogers, two exceptionally sharp and fast cornerbacks. In the safety position they have the hard hitting Sean Taylor and the ex-Eagle Troy Vincent. Looking at the Redskins defense they have an excellent combination of physical strength and athletic ability.

As we take the field this Sunday at home, as an offense we know that we have our work cut out for us. This is going to be a challenge and hard battle, nonetheless a good team to start our winning streak off with! Thanks again for joining me in the Westbrook Lounge…See you at the game this week!

October 23rd 2006

What a disappointing loss! We fought and played hard, but in the end it was not enough to come away with a win. As an offense we have to find a way to start faster.  However, an encouraging note that comes after a game like this is that all three phases have not played a complete football game yet. As a team and one unit working together towards the same goal we must learn from our shortcomings and continue to move forward and not look back.

This Sunday we intend to do what we have to do to prepare ourselves for this week’s match-up at home. We are up against a very tough and hungry Jacksonville Jaguars team that is coming off of a loss of their own. We need to continue to try to run the ball and make defenses honor our multi- dimensional offense. On another note, I really appreciate the encouragement and support I receive from all of my fans. Thanks for joining me in the Westbrook lounge. See you back here next week!

October 10th 2006
Wow! Yesterday was a great game and a huge win against a tough, physical divisional rival. Everyone's adrenaline was pumping, energy was high and the atmosphere in the stadium was indescribable.  There were a lot of individual battles within one big fight for a victory between two good teams. I was up against the big linebacking group, Donovan was
against Roy Williams, and of course T.O. was face-to-face with our secondary. The key to winning was dominating those individual battles and controlling the game.

As an offense we started out strong in the same fashion that we have all year. During the game there were many high points as a team as well as many peaks and valleys for us offensively. The key to us being better offensively is to eliminate the inconsistencies and have a continual incline throughout the game.

All in all, it was a great game and a key divisional win that we
needed. This week’s match-up is against a young and emerging New Orleans Saints team equipped with their own group of star power with Reggie Bush. On the offense side we have to be conscience of ball control. We need to keep the ball out of a Saints offense that continues to get better as the weeks
continue. This will be another great game and hopefully another win for the Philadelphia Eagles!

See you back here next week,

Brian

October 2nd 2006
Monday night was a great win for our team. Offensively we continue to show that we are talented, but need to be more consistent. I was troubled all week with swelling in my knee and it continued to present problems for me on Monday, with that swelling the training staff and I decided to drain the knee and get ready for the Cowboys game.

As you know, this week’s game is big for us because it’s a divisional match-up against a very talented and physical Dallas Cowboys team. Although a lot of the media attention will be

focused on Terrell Owens we understand that it's a team game and no one man will be able to beat our unified team. We are expecting it to be our biggest challenge to date and we are ready for the task. Thanks for joining me in the Westbrook Lounge. See you next week!
